What to do when your computer suddenly stops booting..
I just experienced this last March 14, 2013, I just like to share what I had done to fix it.
1.) Check the Power. Your CPU POWER INDICATOR should be lit. if not...
- Your Power Cable might be unplug. Check the cable at the outlet and at the CPU. It might be loose. If you have spare cable, replace it. If you have UPS or AVR, try to direct the power cable to power outlet (AC). It all of this doesn't work, go to the certified technician. your CPU power module might be defective.
2.) You had verified the power is okay but no display on the monitor.
- Check if your display monitor had a power also. If none. Check its power cable from AC outlet to the monitor itself. If you had UPS or AVR, try to direct it to the AC outlet.
- Now you had verified that the power is okay, check the VGA cable if properly connected.
Sometimes VGA adapter get damaged. Check the pins if all is aligned.Try to replace the cable if you had spare.
- If you had a Video card installed. Try to use the Video card imbedded in your motherboard. Your video card might be defective.
- You might also want to try to clean your video card for dust. Dust sometime conduct electricity that might cause the problem in your Video card. If you know how to remove the video card from the motherboard, try to remove it and clean your motherboard for dust. DON'T USE WATER OR ANY LIQUID CLEANER IN THE MOTHERBOARD. You may use Air Brush or Duster Brush.
- If all doesn't work. Go to the Certified Technician to check your Video Card. If might be defective.
3.) If you heard a Continuous Beep Sound, the problem might be the Memory Cards.
- Try to open the CPU with care and remove the memory card. After removing it, it is important to clean it for any dust particle. REMEMBER DO NOT USE ANY LIQUID CLEANER. Then Put it back to the motherboard. You must heard the "CLICK" sound to ensure that the memory is properly placed. If you still heard the Continuous Beeping Sound, try to repeat the process at least 5 times. This also clean the contact of the Memory Slot. If it doesn't work try to place the memory card into the different memory slot. That slot might be defective. If still doesn't work at least try it for 5 times repeating the process.
- If you had two memory cards try to use one memory card at a time. One of the memory card might be defective.
4.) No Beeping Sound but It won't Boot Up. Try to check other cards like network card, Sound Card etc. Try to remove them and clean for any dust and put it back again. If it still won't work. Try to remove one card at a time to test if that card causes the problem.
5.) Your computer might be booting but can't find any OS to start up. Your problem might be your hard disk. Try to recover it using your Windows CD Installer.
6.) Go to the BIOS MENU and try to load Optimal Setting. Don't Forget to save. It works on me all the time.
I hope it helps you.
God Bless
